19th July 2017

As a Church of England Voluntary Aided school, we are inspected periodically under the Church of England Education Office's framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005.  We were inspected by Stephen Green, a SIAMS inspector on 13th June 2017.  He spoke to children, parents, staff and governors, looked at documentation and observed teaching and learning in Religious Education.

We are delighted to share the outcome of the inspection, the inspection deemed us to be outstanding overall in our distinctiveness and effectiveness as a church school.

He noted the strengths of the school as follows:

  •        A strong and clear Christian vision influences all aspects of the curriculum and school life.  Christian values are explored and regularly reinforced in religious education (RE) and collective worship (CW).
  •        Christian values have a direct impact upon relationships within the school and the pupils’ excellent behaviour.  Pupils have an obvious respect for adults and for each other.
  •        The governors play a key role, supporting staff and working with the senior leadership team to establish a long-term vision for the development of the school.

We are also delighted that we have achieved the RE Quality Mark Silver for the high standard of RE in the school.  This was awarded by an assessor who spoke to children and discussed evidence of the standards of RE with Mrs. Creed the RE subject leader.

Please find a copy of the report attached and a letter to the children from Dr Sallnow, the RE Quality Mark Assessor.
