Comparing artists and creating our own

We have been comparing the work of two famous artists, Piet Mondrian and Romero Britto. We decided they were similar because their art work both has bold lines and bright colours. The children liked spotting the objects and patterns in Britto’s art and talking about the size and colours of the shapes in Mondrian’s art. The children have used inspiration from both of the artists to create their own work of art. This was also an interesting opportunity for the children as they explored oil pastels and water colour paints. They thought it was cool when the paint could be used on top of the pastels without smudging it.
