Exploring water and ice

Snow Leopards have explored a variety of ice blocks with leaves and petals inside. We used tools such mini hammers and screwdrivers to find the petals inside. We felt like real scientists with our safety goggles on!

We also had a jug of water with pipettes to investigate the effect the water would have on the ice. This helped us discuss how temperature effects the state of water and we linked this to our understanding of the frost and ice outside when it is very cold.

Luckily, the water in one of our outdoor tuff trays froze overnight so we also investigated ice that had been formed naturally due to the temperature.
